Standardized testing

CalArts does not require prospective first-year college students (BFA1) to submit standardized test scores (SAT I or ACT). In addition, MFA applicants are not required to take the GRE (Graduate Record Examination). However, if you submit test scores, we will consider those scores as a part of your admissions review.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is the standard preliminary indicator used to gauge the non-native English speaker’s proficiency in American English. The TOEFL is administered by the Educational Testing Service. For more information, refer to the International Students section.
