Jim Ellis

Jim Ellis is an arts-integrationist. He approaches multiple creative disciplines as different methods to convey the same emotional/intellectual information through varying forms of creative expression. Ellis seeks to utilize the arts as a means of self-discovery, exploration of the unknown, and as an outlet for comedic social commentary. Sprouting from a passionate interest in improvisational music, film making, and fine art, he turned his attention in 1996 to the creation of improvisational real-time computer animation. This area continues to be one of bountiful creative interest and reward for him.

A selective list of screenings for his short non-representational visual-music films include : Acm1, Siggraph, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art- Los Angeles.

His animated works have been licensed by MTV and Jennifer Lopez. In 2001 as part of "Secret Sauce", he co-created a sound installation for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

In 2002 he was hired on as the "Touch VJ" (live real-time 3D animation) for an international tour of the Canadian rockers "Rush". In 2004, he was featured in Peter Weishars book CGI: the Art of the 3D Computer-Generated Image. Ellis continues to VJ sporadically, and create publicly released tools for the real-time computer animation software "Touch".

Currently he is focusing on a new feature-length animated film of his own music and art, as well as collaborating on a new audio/music software program.
