Maureen Furniss

Maureen Furniss, Ph.D. is an animation historian. She is the founding editor of Animation Journal and author of Art in Motion: Animation Aesthetics (John Libbey 1998). She has edited Chuck Jones: Conversations

(University Press of Mississippi 2005) and is currently completing work on a book on experimental animation production (Laurence King 2008). Her dissertation, Things of the Spirit: A Study of Abstract Animation, was completed at the University of Southern California. She is a founding member and currently president of the Society for Animation Studies, and she has received an award for her contributions to the field of animation from the Hollywood chapter of ASIFA.
