Beatrice Lawluvi

World Music: African Music and Dance

Beatrice K. Lawluvi has taught dance at the Arts Council of Ghana and served as teacher and assistant to the artistic director of the renowned Ghana Dance Ensemble with which she toured Europe, the former Soviet Union and the U.S. She performed with that group in Senegal at the First World Music Festival of the Negro Arts and in Mexico during the 1968 Olympics. Recently, she has been teaching summer sessions in Australia and the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado. Co-founder and choreographer of the Zadonu African Music and Dance Company. She is a three-time recipient of the California Arts Council Artist in Communities grant.
