Sherwood taught at Loyola Marymount University as resident designer and technical director for six years prior to joining the faculty at CalArts in 1980. His background includes scenic, lighting and sound design; stage direction, technical direction; and Theater architecture. He designed the original Stella Adler Theater in Hollywood and supervised the renovation of the CalArts Walt Disney Modular Theater.
